To uphold the sound preaching and teaching of the Gospel of Christ, to expose lost souls to God’s plan for salvation and to assist and encourage individuals to live fully in accordance with the will of God while glorifying Him in all aspects of life including at home, at work and in the community." (Matthew 28:19, Matthew 28:20)
There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. These are equal and are one God. God created the world out of nothing and by his power, he sustains all he has created. (Romans 8:22, Romans 8:23, Romans 8:24, Romans 8:25; Ephesians 1:13, Ephesians 1:14)
God’s story is a vision of love and reconciliation. The story or message that most clearly shows this redemptive love is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. (1 John 3:16) Paul says this message is of “first importance.” (1 Corinthians 15:3) As God reveals his nature through the stories of the Bible; the following teachings emerge as the central core doctrines. These teachings are the center of our beliefs here at Brentwood Church of Christ.
The basis of our beliefs is the Bible. We believe that all Scripture originated with God and was given to human authors. We hold that Scripture is inspired by God and has the final word on all matters of faith and practice(2 Timothy 3:16-17). "If any men speak, let him speak as the oracles of God." (1 Peter 4:11)
The salvation of humanity is entirely dependent on God’s grace and is not the result of human work or effort
Salvation is a FREE gift of God! The death of Christ on the cross is the only sufficient payment for our sins. All have sinned, but all can be saved. This salvation is available for any who put their trust in Christ as Savior. (Romans 2:23, Romans 6:23; John 3:16) Those that believe in Christ should turn from sin, confess their faith, and be baptized. (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16)
